Split System Air Conditioning Installation
Like the name suggests, split systems are made up of two separate systems: one indoors, and one outdoors. The first step in installing a split system air conditioner securing the indoor unit.
We then need to run the necessary piping and electrical wiring to connect the systems, such as drainage lines for excess moisture and tubing for the cool air to travel from the outdoor condenser to the inside unit.
The outdoor unit is what does all the heavy lifting, taking warm air from outdoors and converting it to cool air. This unit needs a firm base. This can be in the form of brackets on the wall or placed on concrete slabs. The location ideally will be within 15 metres of the indoor air outlet.
Ducted Air Conditioning
If you want a ducted air conditioner, you will have to decide how to zone your home. This will dictate where the vents will go and where the piping will have to be placed.
You then need to choose a convenient location for the controller. This controller can allow you to choose the temperature of each room.
However your electrical mains will need to be assessed to ensure they can handle the ducted air conditioner. Some require 3-phase power and most homes use single phase so this will be clarified by one of our local technicians before installation.
Installation of a ducted air conditioner usually takes 1 – 2 days. If the unit is going into the roof space, tiles or tin sheets usually need to be removed to fit the indoor fan coil inside. A suitable area will be located for the outdoor unit that will be unobtrusive and also in an area that will not annoy your neighbours.
Compared to ducted air conditioning, split system air conditioning installation is often more straightforward. Not only is it cheaper, but it’s quicker – in many cases, installation can be completed in a single day.
Once your split system is installed, we will test and check your unit, ensuring it meets Australian Standards, the piping and refrigerant charge is correct and airflow is balanced. We will step you through the operation of your new air conditioning unit and leave you with your operation manual and warranty information.
Finally, your technician will clean up and remove any waste materials, leaving your home clean and tidy.
